ARS'13 International Workshop “ Networks in space and time: Models, Data collection and Applications
is the fourth edition of a very successful international conference on Social Network Analysis (ARS'07, ARS'09 and ARS’11).

The workshop will be held June 20-22,2013, at the “Federico Caffè” Faculty of Economics of Università Roma 3, located at Via Silvio D'Amico, 77 - 00145 Roma, Italy

Quoting Marcel Proust “the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but having new eyes”. One of the fundamental issues associated with having “new eyes” is to look at the development of a new space-time representation that can allow us to deepen the analysis of networks in society, economics and nature. The research in Social Network Analysis is thus rapidly evolving toward the inclusion of geography and time into the social space, accounting for their effect on the networks structure and on the network dynamics.

ARS'13 aims at presenting the most relevant results and the most recent methodological developments in dealing with social networks, when data are collected across space and time.

The workshop also aims to deepen existing scientific cooperation between social network analysts, to establish new cooperation between researchers, and to provide a multi-disciplinary forum for exchange of ideas

The topics of the workshop will include:

  • Dynamic network visualization
  • Large networks
  • Longitudinal social networks
  • Models for spatial-temporal networks
  • Networks and geography
  • Network data collection
  • Social Network Analysis methods for longitudinal data
  • International Networks
The Workshop will include invited and contributed papers sessions.
The Scientific board is very pleased to announce a number of world-class keynote speakers for ARS'13 invited sessions.

Tutorials on Pajek (Instructor: TBA, University  of Ljubljana, Slovenia) and Siena (Instructor: Johann Konisken, University of Manchester, UK) will be offered.
